CARE - a responsible fashion project
I chose to focus my project on the intent: "How to care before How to do" in sustainability.
First, we were asked to create a self portrait of the "sustainably responsible me" how I see myself fitting in to the movement. using repurposed materials only.
I wanted to incorporate the element of the care label as more than laundry instructions and push the people watching my work to find their connection to the subject, to find their way to CARE before they ACT in order to maintain a lifestyle of sustainablity rather than a blind Execution of what we were told is right. By taking my friends and family's snaps and leftovers I showed them it can have another life as something new instead of becoming trash.
My garment incorporates the sustainability elements of Upcycling and Zero waste, using old clothes and fabrics as well as crochet technique that leaves no scraps.
The project was presented in an exhibition at Dizengoff Center and attracted a large audience and press.
